After swinging by Australia’s triple j studio to deliver a haunting live cover of Radiohead‘s iconic track ‘Karma Police’ for their debut Like A Version performance last year, Pierce The Veil have now unleashed a new studio-recorded version of the track.
Similar to their Like A Version, the San Diego post-hardcore veterans’ studio cover stays fairly faithful to the Radiohead original, rejuvenating the 1997 alt-rock hit with a grungey, no-frills approach punctuated by frontman Vic Fuentes’s unmistakeable vocal tone.
Pierce The Veil – ‘Karma Police’
“We are products of the 80s and 90s MTV era, so songs like ‘Karma Police’ live deep within our childhood minds,” Pierce the Veil said of the release in a collective statement about the cover (via Consequence Of Sound).
“We dug this one up as an opportunity to indulge in something comforting and familiar,” they continued. “Taking inspiration from the memories and emotions the song evokes in us, we created a version that reflects where we come from as a band. We were happy to discover that the song remained haunting and beautiful even when fed through distortion pedals and loud guitars.”
You can take the track for a spin up above.
