Rock legends Pink Floyd have shared the official artwork and tracklist from their forthcoming studio album The Endless River, as well as a snippet of brand-new music.
As The Guardian points out, Pink Floyd unveiled The Endless River‘s album artwork (above) in various locations around the world, including New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Milan as well as The Australian Museum in Sydney (photo below). The stunning and very Floydian image was created by 18-year old Egyptian digital artist Ahmed Emad Eldin.
When Pink Floyd confirmed The Endless River‘s 2014 release in July, the band said that the album will be “mainly ambient and instrumental music” based on sessions from their last album, The Division Bell, which was released 20 years ago.
A suitably graceful, guitar-led teaser of material from The Endless River can now be heard via Pink Floyd’s official website. Detailing the album’s genesis, the band have said, “In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from [The Division Bell] sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire.
“The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music, using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.” The album, which is penned as a tribute to the band’s late keyboardist Rick Wright, is “arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson”.
According to details released in July, The Endless River will not feature founding member and long-time bassist Roger Waters, nor be followed by a tour. The album is currently is set for release in Australia on 7th November, with a global release date set for 10th November.
