After hacker group Anonymous recently resurfaced to declare solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter protesters fighting against racism and police corruption in the US, the whole world has basically been holding their beer. And their first act of defiance has not disappointed.
“If the police can’t restrain themselves and are shooting reporters, kicking protesters, punching protesters, and engaging in violence — how can anyone expect the people to restrain themselves? People are done being brutalised and murdered”, the group posted on Twitter on Saturday. And shortly after, N.W.A.’s ‘Fuck Tha Police’ started blaring over police scanners in the city of Chicago.
A few hours after the iconic Straight Outta Compton protest anthem blocked communications on Chicago PD scanners, Tay Zonday’s song-turned-meme ‘Chocolate Rain’ also made a musical cameo, although it’s unclear at this point whether Anonymous was also responsible for that act as well.
