Kiwi hellraisers Antagonist A.D’s fourth studio album, Haunt Me As I Roam, is like a metalcore comet hurtling towards earth, and today we’re breaking off a piece of it to share with you, with the exclusive premiere of the disc’s title track happening right here on Music Feeds.
The band’s debut full-length with UNFD is packing a mosher’s ransom in cameos from their new label-mates, including JJ Peters from Deez Nuts, Andrew Neufeld from Comeback Kid and Sam Carter from Architects. And titular tune Haunt Me As I Roam is no exception, packing walloping guest vocals by Ahren Stringer of The Amity Affliction.
It’s an intense, emotional screamer of a track, making it an apt headliner for an LP that vocalist Sam Crocker has described as the band’s most “personally confronting” to date.
“It’s more melodic, dynamic, personal and contrasting release than anything we have ever done before,” he tells Music Feeds. “Lyrically deeper and more personally confronting – musically more progressive and melodic than anything we have ever done.”
The frontman also touches on the personal struggles that he himself had to overcome to make the album happen. “Through all of this I had just come out of a 6 year relationship, went through one of the most darkest years of my life and for some reason the passing of a friend from a couple of years ago came back to me through this period and resounded heavily in my thoughts and writing process.
“It’s an album of introspection and reflection. Empowering yourself through a walk of fire and hell to come out wiser and still swinging on the other side.”
And, despite having just polished off a monster Australian tour with Amity in February, Crocker also reveals that Antagonist A.D. is sitting on more than just one plan to tour Australia again this year! “We will be over at least twice this year touring the album,” he says. Expect the first tour to be announced shortly.
