Oozing a brooding intensity, the new single Turpentine from singer songwriter Deena sees the artist back on radar, ahead of a national tour in late September and October.
A blues track with tense lyrics exploring the toll that substance abuse and dirty living can have on a relationship, Deena matches her searing words with escalating tension via her electric guitar.
Singing unaccompanied other than the guitar, the track showcases Deena’s powerful voice and intense vocal presence. Tough as nails and tempered by the furnace of bittersweet experience, Turpentine sees the songwriter at the height of her powers. It was produced by the LA-based Neil Baldock (Neil Finn, Crowded House, Bic Runga, Shihad).
The single follows up her previous albums Lone Wolf and Black Cat. Already a seasoned performer having completed a nation tour in support of her previous work, Deena is nevertheless embarking on yet another tour around the nation later this month, taking her band along with her for a run of east coast show, as well as visiting Adelaide to close out the tour.
