Sarah McLeod, mastermind behind Oz rock greats The Superjesus, returns with her new solo EP 96% Love Songbook and you can stream it in full ahead of its 28th October right here!
The new EP sees McLeod depart from the melodic rock sound that forged a legion of fans in favour a smoother and gentler offering, steeped in the sounds of the 60s.
“This style of music has always been my foundation,” said McLeod. “In the ’90s I pushed it very firmly aside in order to focus on my ‘grunge’ phase…but now I feel I have come full circle and it’s ok for me to just write what comes naturally.”
Shifting to what comes naturally has yielded the new single Scouts Honour, which combines jazzy arrangements and lush instrumentation with that trademark Sarah McLeod swagger. The new EP also marks the first time that long-time collaborator Sarah has written a release entirely solo.
“This classic style of writing…comes the most naturally to me,” the singer added. “Not only to write, but also to listen to. I’m very happy that I’ve made this journey and have arrived safely back where I started but with more knowledge and confidence to execute it.”
The 96% Love Songbook was co-produced by band member Stu Hunter (Buffalo Tales, Tina Harrod, Leroy Lee, Martha Marlow) and mastered by the Grammy Award-winning William Bowden (Gotye), with a smooth, classic sound expressing McLeod’s ability to diversify her music and style.
To celebrate the release of the 96% Love Songbook EP, McLeod and her band will be embarking on an extensive national tour starting next Thursday, 24th October at the Thornbury Theatre in Melbourne, before heading to Perth and Adelaide and swinging back to the East Coast to conclude the run.
