PREMIERE: The Laurels Confront Nature & The Supernatural In ‘Sonicology’ Music Video

Native outfit The Laurels are now approaching the Friday, 14th October release date of their next album Sonicology. The current single and namesake of the release puts forward a strong case as to why they’d be so confident about the release, and today we are premiering the song’s official music video.

With its ambient instrumental backdrop and vocals-only slightly louder than your inner dialogue, there was already something enchanted about the track, which makes a dense forest the perfect setting. What starts off as a carefree journey following our protagonist as she explores and investigates her surroundings, soon takes a supernatural turn with the entrance of a horned, charred individual.

This one might need a bit more ‘splaining, so in the words of director Aimée-Lee X. Curran, “The story behind the video clip explores the idea of humans becoming one with nature, the discarding of societal constraints to embrace primal instinct, and what it means to be man, woman or animal.”

Sonicology will be the big sophomore release from the outfit and will end a 4-year break from new material since their debut album Plains. Following an extended period on the road in support of the release, line up changes, family emergencies and the ever-dreaded crashing hard-drive, Sonicology represents a new Laurels. Not confined by the boxes of time or genre.

It sounds impressive. Now, you’ll be able to see it right before your eyes with the band embarking on a run of headline dates to support the release. See tour details below.
