Prince Finally Joins Twitter, Loves Pepper, Drops New Tune ‘Groovy Potential’

The artist currently known as Prince has just joined Twitter and, like any 55-year-old negotiating his way around social media, he’s doing his fair share of embarrassing meme posting and selfies…but he’s made up for it by dropping a snippet of a brand-new track, Groovy Potential.

The song is classic Prince (below), with a laid-back groove and more than a hint of sex appeal, which balances out his tweets so far. The account has been active for a while now, but the Purple One now seems to have taken the reins himself, kicking off with the self-explanatory “PRINCE’S 1ST TWEET… TESTING 1, 2…” and was followed up with “PRINCE’S 2ND TWEET.”

He then shared a picture of his food – coated in pepper – a really old publicity shot of himself and then what he described as his “first selfie”, which doesn’t actually contain Prince at all but what looks like some smoke. Ooh, meta. The account goes by the name “Prince 3rd Eye Girl”, referencing the name of the Purple Rain superstar’s current musical project.

It’s still yet to be seen if Prince’s real Twitter account will be anywhere near as entertaining as @PrinceTweets2U, an endlessly entertaining parody account that can only be topped if Prince continues to deliver new tunes.
