It looks like Prince is finally cool with the internet having access to his cover of the Radiohead classic Creep, which is great, because it’s absolutely stunning.
Prince covered Creep at California’s Coachella Festival in 2008, but footage of the performance was pulled from YouTube by the muso pretty soon after it made its way online, due to concerns around copyright infringement.
Prince obviously doesn’t hold the copyright for Creep, so, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has given a YouTube user his blessing to re-upload the clip in all its glory. Speaking about the removal of the performance from YouTube, Yorke has said, “Well, tell [Prince] to unblock it. It’s our song.”
Prince’s Creep cover (below) is distorted, about double the length of the original song, and features an insane guitar solos packing their own dove-like calls. It also sees the singer-songwriter change Yorke’s original lyrics to lines like, “I wish you were special / Cause I think you’re special.”
Since footage of Prince’s Creep cover returned to YouTube, The Purple One has himself shared the video on Twitter, suggesting that he’s cool with it all and the clip will likely remain available to all.
Enjoy it in all its glory, below.
