Melbourne punk outfit Private Function have released a new single. The track, dubbed ‘I’m This Far Away (From Being The Worst Person You’ve Ever Met)’, serves as the band’s first piece of new music in two years.
The track will appear on the band’s third album which is slated for release in early 2023. In a brief statement released alongside the single, the group explain that the song is about pushing back against societal pressures, criticism and expectation, and is “inspired by the words Clint Eastwood (probably) said to his enemy”.

“You’ll love it the first time you hear it, and after your second listen it will be stuck in your head till the day you die,” Private Function explain. “You have been warned.”
The new single is the first new single released by the group since their 2020 album, Whose Line Is It Anyway, which reached the top ten in the Australian charts. Its release also coincides with the announcement of the band’s new lineup, which includes guitarists Lauren Hester and Anthony Biancofiore.
To celebrate the release of the new single, Private Function have also announced a number of national tour dates which will see the band perform in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne throughout September. Full details are available below.
