Move aside Justin Bieber – your time at the top of the YouTube ‘most watched clip’ mountain is up.
It’s taken a bit of time, but everyone’s favourite South Korean pop sensation PSY is about to become the new record holder of the most-watched clip on YouTube with his infamous video for his worldwide smash, Gangnam Style.
Update 25/11/2012: Gangnam Style is now the most viewed video on youtube
The clip is currently sitting on around 798.4 million views – about five million off the play count for Bieber’s breakout hit Baby, which is at 803 million. However, based on The Telegraph‘s reports that Gangnam Style receives 11 million hits a day, the clip is expected to eclipse Bieber’s record by the end of the weekend.
And, ironically enough, PSY recently signed with Beiber’s management company a few months back – and there’s talk the pair will work on a song together. Scooter Braun will be one very happy man – he’s in charge of two acts who between them have achieved around 1.6 billion views.
Last month, we did a feature on the Top 10 most-viewed YouTube clips around the globe, and PSY was only at No.6 on the list, more than 300 million views behind Bieber. PSY’s now rocketed past all his competition – and at this rate, he could even become the first act to clock up one billion views by the time the year is out.
So, if you want to help PSY achieve the record sooner rather than later – get your horse dancing moves on and watch the video again below. PSY will also be bringing Gangnam Style to life around the country when he performs at the Future Music Festival in March.
