Believe the hype! Long Island hip-hop icons Public Enemy are returning down under this year to toast 35 years of revolutionising rap music.
The Hall Of Fame inductees, social rights activists and genre pioneers will be hitting our shores this October under the banner of the Off The Grid 25th Anniversary Tour, playing six huge headline dates in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, supported by politically-charged First Nations hip-hop duo, A.B. Original.
Public Enemy – ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’
Formed in 1985, Public Enemy began their musical revolution with the release of their 1987 debut album Yo! Bum Rush The Show, which blended assertive beats with sharp social commentary. Their
sophomore effort,1988’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, catapulted them to international fame, before their 1990 album Fear of a Black Planet gave us the incendiary Black anthem that defined a nation and a generation, ‘Fight the Power’.
