Puff Daddy has announced a stupidly good lineup for a one-off Bad Boy Records tribute night in New York.
The event is in honour of Puff’s label as well as Notorious B.I.G. and is being billed as a Puff Daddy and the Family reunion, even though they officially reunited at the BET Awards just last year.
Mase, 112, Faith Evans, Lil’ Kim, Jay Z, Mary J Blige, French Montana, the Lox, Total, and Mario Winans will also perform at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on 20th May. That’s just one day before Biggie’s birthday. He would’ve been 44.
“This isn’t just another concert—this is hip-hop history,” Puff said in a statement (via Pitchfork).
“The Bad Boy Family includes some of the biggest names in music and songs that helped define a whole generation of music. Also, we are celebrating one of the greatest of all time—Notorious B.I.G. This will be a night to remember. I can’t wait to see you all there.”
Cue us:
Biggie’s debut album Ready To Die was one of Bad Boy Records’ first ever releases. Recently, Janelle Monae and French Montana have also dropped records via the iconic label.
It looks like it’s the year for Notorious B.I.G. tributes. His widow Faith Evans has revealed that she’s planning a collaborative album with unreleased vocals by him due for release in September. She also teased a hologram.
