Hip hop veterans Jay-Z and Pusha T combine on the new single, ‘Neck & Wrist’, which is out today. Pharrell Williams produced the track. Listen below.
‘Neck & Wrist’ follows Pusha T’s ‘Diet Coke’, released in February. ‘Diet Coke’ was produced by Kanye West and 88 Keys. Ye featured prominently in the ‘Diet Coke’ music video. Jay-Z’s recent collaboration with Ye, ‘Jail’, from last year’s Donda, won the Grammy award for Best Rap Song on Sunday, 3rd April.
Jay-Z and Pusha T have worked together on numerous occasions in the past. Both rappers featured on the Kanye song, ‘So Appalled’, from 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In 2016 Pusha T released the non-album single, ‘Drug Dealers Anonymous’, featuring Jay-Z.
Pharrell also has a long history with the two rappers. As one half of The Neptunes, Pharrell produced the Clipse albums Lord Willin’ (2002), Hell Hath No Fury (2006), and the majority of Clipse’s final album, Til the Casket Drops. Clipse was the project of Pusha T and his brother, No Malice (fka Malice).
The Neptunes produced multiple tracks on Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 2 (2002) and The Black Album (2003). Pharrell also contributed to Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne (2011) and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail (2013). A new album from Pusha T is expected in the first half of 2022.
