Qsic & UNIFIED Launch Campaign To Have More Aussie Music Played Locally

Last week, Jack River put a call out to Channel 7 to play more Aussie artists during the Olympics. While she was at it, she suggested more Aussie businesses, like Coles, Woollies, and Aldi could get behind the move too.

Now, Qsic and Jack River’s management company, UNIFIED have teamed up to get behind the cause.

Qsic will be curating all-Australian playlists for their 70+ customers who have more than 2,000 locations across the country.

“While lockdowns have had a devastating impact across the country, the music scene in particular has continued to feel the deep weight of restrictions,” says Matt Elsley, CEO and Co-Founder of Qsic.

“At Qsic, music is a core part of our service offering and culture.

“We were already in discussions before Jack River’s callout to do more to support the local scene, so it’s exciting to announce this initiative knowing the impact it will make.

“We’re in a unique position of influence to actively help Australia’s most prominent retail and hospitality businesses play a bigger part in assisting the industry recover.

“We’re now deep in rallying mode to bring our business partners onboard and are already receiving great support.”

7-Eleven was one of the first brands to say yes and agree to play the playlist across their Aussie stores.

“The last 18 months have been hard on everyone in one way or another, though the arts community are some of the people who have been doing it particularly tough,” says 7-Eleven General Manager, Julie Laycock.

“Jack River’s call out to use Aussie music in stores to provide much needed income to Australian artists is a fantastic initiative. We’re proud to support it.

“We’ve made some immediate changes to include a higher volume of Australian music in our in-store radio playlists, and will be looking at what’s possible for our playlists ongoing.”

Before the new initiative, Channel 7’s Edwina Bartholomew and Coles had both also gotten behind River’s cause.
