Miley Cyrus has been rapid-firing classic rock and metal covers our way of late like some form of fully-automatic sonic assault rifle.
Hot on the heels of delivering impressive renditions of tunes from the likes of Metallica, Cher, The Guess Who and Cocteau Twins, the Disney star turned popstar turned rock queen has now wrapped her husky pipes around Janis Joplin’s 1969 classic ‘Maybe’.
And it seems, the song holds a special place in her heart.
Ripping into it live at San Francisco’s BottleRock Festival, Cyrus explained: “This song, to me, relates to the changes that I’ve been experiencing in my life, and the things that I’ve lost have come back in what I never knew I wanted or needed to gain.”
She continued: “Even though sometimes it feels like we have to start from nothing, like with the house fire, and completely rebuild… That fire was almost three years ago and I’m just feeling like I’m starting to find my stability now. And so I want everyone to be patient – nothing worth anything happens overnight, it takes a lot of fucking effort and resilience.”
