Queens Of The Stone Age will release a new album later this year, according to Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone about his Gone Is Gone supergroup (which also features QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen and At The Drive-In’s Tony Hajjar), Sanders says the follow-up to Josh Homme and company’s 2013’s album …Like Clockwork is coming in 2017.
“Queens Of The Stone Age, Mastodon and At The Drive-In have all been recording, and we all have new records coming out this year,” Sanders reveals.
“We’ve all been extremely busy writing and recording, and we’re about to get super busy touring the world,” he adds, referring back to his Gone Is Gone bandmates.
QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen revealed back in July that the band would begin recording their next album before the end of 2016. At the time, the guitarist said the group were going to “keep things simpler” than they did with …Like Clockwork, which he called “the hardest record to make”.
As for Gone Is Gone, the band dropped their full-length debut Echolocation on 6th January this year.
