Aussie punk rockers Radio Birdman are preparing to take flight once more, having just announced a run of national shows.
One of the key groups in Australia’s musical development – pretty much creating the Sydney punk scene via their management of seminal venue The Oxford Funhouse – it’s great to see local music royalty like these guys back in action.
The tour follows a big 2015 for the band who embarked on a European tour that saw them play a one-off sell out London show that was so successful an encore has been demanded as well as extra dates in Leeds and Manchester. In fact the tour proved so successful the band have been booked back on several European festivals this June, including Spain’s Azkena Rock Festival and Belgium’s Sjock Festival.
But seeing as though Europe is a bit of a trek for their Aussie fans, the boys decided to treat their fellow Aussies to a tour of their very own. Plus, it gives the boys a chance to warm up them old bones in front of a friendly local audience before facing the Europeans.
But it’s not just touring that has kept the stalwarts of the Australian rock’n’roll community busy, with their entire 1970’s catalogue having been re-issued over Christmas, which you can find out more about at the band’s website.
See the full tour details here below, as well as some vintage footage of the band playing the Marryatville Hotel in 1977.
