G-Eazy has been arrested and charged with assault for his alleged involvement in a brawl that broke out in front of a New York club last week.
The 32-year-old rapper, real name Gerald Gillum, was taken into custody on Monday afternoon in connection with the altercation which took place outside the NY club, Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel. The club was hosting a New York Fashion week party that night. The altercation took place at around 12:50AM on Friday, 15th September, according to local police, who spoke to People.
According to the publication, a 32-year-old man was punched, and suffered redness and swelling to the head, but despite that, he refused medical attention. A 29-year-old man was also punched.
Following the altercation, G-Eazy was charged with assault, and issued a desk appearance ticket.
According to sources who spoke to Page Six, G-Eazy’s entourage “landed socialite Daniel Chetrit in the hospital.”
Chetrit – the son of prominent real estate developer Joseph Chetrit, and pal of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid – was at the hotel in support of his friend Zack Bia, who was DJing the Fashion Week event.
The insider source alleges that both parties were “pretty fucked up”, with the altercation then ensuing at around 2AM.
“They are two super-interconnected groups. They’re all friends, and something set someone off, and G-Eazy’s crew ended up bottling one of Zack Bia’s friends [Daniel],” an insider told the publication.
“Zack had nothing to do with it. He was just there. One of G-Eazy’s friends smashed a bottle over Daniel’s head,” a source close to Bia alleged.
Chetrit was then taken to the hospital, where he received stitches on his head.
The Standard Hotel has been a place of great scuffles previously, with the infamous Solange Knowles and Jay-Z incident occurring in an elevator inside the same hotel in 2014.
