All hell broke loose during Travis Scott’s set at Lollapalooza 2015. Which is impressive, because the rapper only performed for about five minutes before he was shunted offstage and arrested.
As Consequence of Sound reports, the rapper apparently incited fans to ignore security, jump the barriers and bum rush the stage, which many of them did with great success.
The show was promptly shut down, and the hip-hopper was arrested for disorderly conduct.
“The performer played one song and then began telling fans to come over the barricades,” Chicago police said in a statement (via ABC 7 Chicago). “Due to the security’s quick response, the situation was remedied immediately and no fans were injured. The performer fled the scene and was taken into custody a short while later.”
It wasn’t the only disruption to Lollapalooza over the weekend. The festival was briefly evacuated on Sunday afternoon due to a severe thunderstorms passing through. Things was due to resume at 4:00 PM Chicago time with an adjusted schedule announced shortly after.
Meantime, many punters have uploaded footage of the chaos from Scott’s set to social media, with some describing it as a riot. Have a gander at some of that below.
Meanwhile, Scott himself has posted an image of his latest rodeo, along with the caption, “Love to u fans. Thank u lollapalooza Learned a lot from this.”
Scott is expected to be formally charged with disorderly conduct. At the time of writing, Lollapalooza promoters have yet to issue a statement of their own regarding the incident.
