Raval at The Macquarie Hotel cancels all bands

Last month it was The Excelsior now Ravál situated at the Macquarie hotel in Surry Hills will cancel all upcoming gigs from 25 March. Ravál was launched in August 2009 with great hopes but According to General Manager Mandy Wheeler :

“Raval has got to the point where it’s not sustainable.”

“It’s one of those venues that maybe has one bad night and four good nights, or four bad nights and one good night… when you’re only taking the bar it makes it difficult.”

The room will now be available to book for functions and it appears that it will not host public live music events again.

New Navy’s headline show with Perth’s Wolves At The Door will be the last show in a venue that could not even last 2 years

None of the shows will move down stairs due to noise restrictions and it seems Live Music days in Surry Hills are coming to an end.
