Taylor Swift Announced As Global Ambassador For Record Store Day 2022

Record Store Day will return in 2022. The annual celebration of independent record shops, local and international artists, labels and releases is happening on Saturday, 23rd April.

Every year, Record Store Day gives rise to a raft of limited edition releases. Full details of this year’s major inclusions will be revealed shortly.

Taylor Swift has been announced as the inaugural Global Record Store Day Ambassador. While not exactly an indie icon, Swift has plenty of experience when it comes to selling records. Three Swift albums found a place on the Top Ten Best-Selling Albums of 2021 list.

“I’m very proud to be this year’s Ambassador for Record Store Day,” Swift said in a statement. “The places where we go to browse and explore and discover music new and old have always been sacred to me. Record stores are so important because they help to perpetuate and foster music-loving as a passion.”

Swift will issue a limited edition release as part of RSD 2022. Any Australian artists who’d like their music included as an official RSD release can apply here. Independent record stores can also register to have their RSD events listed on the Record Store Day Australia website.
