The remaining dates of the 10-year anniversary of the Red Hot Summer Tour have been either cancelled or postponed, with organisers citing concerns over the spread of coronavirus.
The tour has been going for several months and celebrating great rock around Australia, with ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Hunters & Collectors reuniting for headline duties, as well as James Reyne, The Living End, The Angels, Baby Animals, Killing Heidi and Boom Crash Opera.
After working around the clock to find appropriate alternative dates since the Government banned all events over 500 pax last Friday, organisers have announced that dates in Kiama, Ballarat and the Barossa will be moved to October 2020, with ticket-holders encouraged to hang on to their current ticket.
However, dates in Wodonga, Dubbo, Cairns, Mornington and Noose have been cancelled, with no alternative venues or dates able to be found.
Organisers said punters will receive a full refund over these cancelled dates.
“We have made every effort to reschedule all of the dates left on this tour,” apologised promoter Duane McDonald.
“We are experiencing uncertain times and we appreciate the support we have received from everyone as we have worked to make a plan forward.
“If we haven’t been able to reschedule your show, we will return to your town next summer with our 2021 line up. Thank you everyone for your support this year – please stay safe.”
The tour began on January 4 in Bendigo, and was planned to cover most of the country, from Queensland’s tropical north, all the way to Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.
2020 represented the 10-year anniversary since Aussie promoter McDonald first organised the Red Hot Summer Tour in 2011.
