ORIGINAL STORY: Melbourne’s Corner Hotel has cancelled a scheduled performance by Texan rapper Riff Raff (real name Horst Christian Simco), after he was accused of rape by a woman on Facebook.
In a statement posted today, the Melbourne woman accused Riff Raff of raping her in 2013, after being asked to come backstage at a show.
Riff Raff was due to perform at the Corner Hotel on 8th June as part of his 2018 Australian tour, however the venue has now cancelled the show, saying in a statement:
“We have recently been made aware of allegations of drugging and sexual assault against Riff Raff on a previous Melbourne tour. The Corner & High Fi Events take allegations of sexual assault very seriously, and we have therefore cancelled Riff Raff’s upcoming show at the Corner Hotel. We are working tirelessly to ensure the venue is a safe and inclusive space for everybody and we don’t condone sexual harassment and assault of any kind.
“Thank you to everyone who has been in touch to voice their concern. As a venue, we prioritise a safe and inclusive environment and we want anyone who has experienced any incident of sexual harassment or assault to know that we are listening and will support you.
“If you have purchased tickets to the show we will be in touch shortly with more information.”
