According to a report from US publication Radar Online, Rihanna has dropped what had become a long drawn out lawsuit against her father, Ronald Fenty.
The suit, initially lodged by Rihanna against her father in 2019, claimed that Ronald had ‘misused her name’. It had become murky, obviously since both individuals share the same last name – Fenty – however the singer and now billionaire businesswoman had claimed her father and his business partner had exaggerated their professional connection.
Ronald and his business partner, Moses Joktan Perkins, had allegedly used their company Fenty Entertainment to book shows without Rihanna’s permission, including a USD $15 million international tour. The suit Rihanna filed also included claims of invasions of privacy along with false advertising.
Interestingly, the case had been set to go to trial this month (September 22). According to Radar Online, the parties had wanted to avoid a public spectacle, and settled their differences privately.
Rihanna officially hit billionaire status this year, with her net worth hitting the USD $1.7 billion mark in August. Largely thanks to the success of her growing beauty, skincare and lingerie line – Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty – Rihanna has become the wealthiest female musician in the world.
When it comes to the music however, fans are no closer to new Rihanna material. It’s been five years since her last album (2016’s ANTI) and though there have been rumours of the Bajan artist heading back into the studio, it seems that Rihanna is simply chillin’ and revelling in all her ventures.
We’d be the same, tbh.
