After much confusion and speculation yesterday, Falls Festival organisers have announced that festival headliner Robyn has cancelled her Australian tour with Röyksopp, including all shows on the festival tour and two scheduled sideshow dates, due to a “personal family matter”.
A brief statement from the festival was issued in a press release this morning: “Regrettably, due to a personal family matter, Robyn will no longer be joining Röyksopp on their Australian tour this summer, including all dates at The Falls Music & Arts Festival.”
Organisers say they are “working on updates to the lineup”, but have put no time frame on the update.
In addition to their Falls Festival performances, the Scandinavian acts were supposed to play two “state-of-the-art” one-off headlining shows in Sydney and Melbourne in January next year. The tour was in support of Röyksopp and Robyn’s mini-album, Do It Again.
Late last night, Falls Festival posted a soon-to-be-deleted status update which contained virtually the same information as this morning’s cancellation announcement. Tickets to Robyn and Röyksopp’s sideshows were due to go on sale yesterday, but promoters Live Nation said they were unable to go ahead with sales as planned “due to unforeseen developments in recent days”.
Still no confirmation if Röyksopp will play their own sideshows without Robyn, though Live Nation are still listing Röyksopp and Robyn shows as on sale tomorrow morning.
