The Rolling Stones have been forced to temporarily put the brakes on their current European tour after frontman Mick Jagger announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
Having kicked off the European leg of their 60th anniversary tour (fittingly dubbed ‘SIXTY’) earlier this month, The Rolling Stones were scheduled to perform at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena on Monday night, only to cancel the show hours beforehand due to Jagger’s diagnosis.
“I’m so sorry that we’ve had to postpone the Amsterdam show with such short notice tonight,” the 78-year-old Jagger wrote on a post shared via Instagram. “I have unfortunately just tested positive for Covid. We aim to reschedule the date ASAP and get back as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.”

In a separate post, the band’s official account noted that Jagger had tested positive after “experiencing symptoms of COVID upon arrival at the stadium”.
“The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for tonight’s postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and the touring crew has to take priority,” the statement added.
Currently, The Rolling Stones’ official website notes that their European tour is scheduled to continue in Switzerland on 17th June, though this is likely to be postponed shortly in accordance with Jagger’s illness and recovery time.
