Royal Headache Frontman Shogun Starts New Band, Shares Two Songs

Shogun, the frontman of defunct Sydney punks Royal Headache, has launched his new band Shogun & The Sheets by dropping two songs dubbed ‘Hold On Kid’ and ‘Pissing Blood’.

The band, which formed in the wake of Royal Headache’s disbandment earlier this year, consists of “teenage friends and musician’s musicians”, according to a statement.

Speaking about the two new tracks, Shogun says, “There’s no real message in these songs. I think I keep my lyrics ambivalent deliberately. I like it when you can feel a meaning or presence in a song but you can’t pinpoint what it is. That way the listener can create their own meaning.”

Stream ‘Hold On Kid’ and ‘Pissing Blood’ below. The songs are available now digitally, with a limited edition 7” release on 2nd November.

Shogun & The Sheets will play their third-ever show this Sunday at Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel.
