Electric Fields will also make history, becoming the first ever two-piece chosen to rep Australia at Eurovision. Made up of vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding and producer/keyboardist Michael Ross, the pair combine traditional living culture with music that ranges from soulful pop to epic-scale electronica.
Their official Eurovision 2024 song ‘One Milkali (One Blood)’, which you can stream above, also incorporates Yankunytjatjara, an Aboriginal language of the Anangu peoples.
Eurovision fans will remember Electric Fields from SBS’s 2019 national selection show, Eurovision – Australia Decides, where they came a close runner-up to Kate Miller-Heidke.
Last year, Perth prog metal act Voyager did us proud at the international song contest, making it to the final and coming in ninth place overall.
This year’s sequin-studded festivities will run from Tuesday, 7th May through til Saturday, 11th May 2024 (CEST) in the Swedish city of Malmö.
SBS’s Eurovision TV coverage will once again be in the capable hands of music buff Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey, with official details of the station’s 2024 broadcast to be announced soon.
