Sanguisugabogg Announce 2024 Australian Tour with Disentomb

Lovers of the most visceral kind of metal music rejoice – Sanguisugabogg are hitting Australian shores for a tour with local act Disentomb. The two death metal bands will be joined by Melbourne beatdown crew Algor Mortis for shows in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Making music in the vein of that other mainstay of the scene, Cattle Decapitation, the name Sanguisugabogg is a portmeanteau of the Latin word for “leech” and British slang for “toilet.” So, uh, call them “leechtoilet” if you’re on first-name basis. For the uninitiated, listen to one of the group’s most famous singles, ‘Menstrual Envy.’

But don’t be put off by the mealy-mouthed name – Sanguisugabogg are one of the strangest, most immediate metal groups around. The band released the album Tortured Whole in 2021, a collection of the singles they had been sprinkling throughout the metal scene for a few years prior.

Disentomb is made-up of assembled players who were cast adrift after the dissolution of the band Cadaverine. They’ve been releasing records for over a decade now, with their first, Sunken Chambers of Nephilim, garnering significant praise in the metal community.

They’ve been somewhat quiet, as of late – their last record, The Decaying of the Light, dropped almost four years ago, and they haven’t hit the road since going out in support of that record.
