Sarah Jessica Parker Shares Emotional Statement After Willie Garson’s Death

Sarah Jessica Parker has shared her first public statement since the death of her good friend and co-star on Sex And The City, Willie Garson.

The news of his death was shared by his son Nathen earlier in the week. The 57-year-old died of pancreatic cancer.

Garson was best known for his role on Sex And The City as Carrie Bradshaw’s quick-witted best friend and confidant, Stanford Blatch. He and SJP have been friends and coworkers for over 30 years.

A day after news of his passing broke, other SATC stars were quick to share their tributes, including Cynthia Nixon (who plays Miranda), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), and Chris Noth (Mr. Big).

SJP left a comment on Noth’s Instagram post, saying “Thank you dearest Chris. I’m not ready yet.”

A few days later, SJP has broken her silence, offering a simultaneously heartfelt and heartbreaking tribute to Garson.

“It’s been unbearable,” she started.

“Sometimes silence is a statement. Of the gravity. The anguish. The magnitude of the loss of a 30 + year friendship.

“A real friendship that allowed for secrets, adventure, a shared professional family, truth, concerts, road trips, meals, late night phone calls, a mutual devotion to parenthood and all the heartaches and joy that accompany, triumphs, disappointments, fear, rage and years spent on sets (most especially Carrie’s apartment) and laughing late into the night as both Stanford and Carrie and Willie and SJ.

“Willie. I will miss everything about you. And replay our last moments together. I will re-read every text from your final days and put to pen our last calls.

“Your absence a crater that I will fill with blessing of these memories and all the ones that are still in recesses yet to surface.

SJP also shared her sentiments with Garson’s son, Nathen, who the late actor adopted in 2010.

“My love and deepest sympathies and condolences to you dear Nathen. You were and are the light of Willie’s life and his greatest achievement was being your Papa.

“These were his last words to me. “Great bangles all around.” Yes.

“Godspeed Willie Garson,” she finished.
