Following on from releasing a couple of teaser tracks over the Easter break, SBTRKT has dropped his new project Save Yourself on Youtube for all to stream. Hurrah.
Featuring appearances from the likes of The-Dream, singer/rapper D.R.A.M. Sampha and r’n’b singer Mabel. The-Dream dominates though with three features on the album in total.
The first release from the artist since 2014’s Wonder Where We Land, SAVE YOURSELF sees him trying on some pretty out there new styles. Proving his versatility he jumps from technicolor trap madness to soulful moments of understated electronica.
While there is certainly still some of the sensibility of his earlier work here, the music is still a far cry from what a lot of fans might expect. Of the project, he’s written a lengthy letter to fans explaining his inspirations and motivations, where he stressed the project was not an album.
