New York glam-queens Scissor Sisters have revealed that they will be taking a break for the foreseeable future – after 11 years and four albums, including their most recent release Magic Hour.
There was initial confusion after they gave brief clues at their headlining show in London yesterday. Jake Shears took a moment between songs to say that “this will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time.” Ana Matronic also spoke during the set to say that they were “the ones who got us first – and always get us best.”
Later on it was all clarified with Gigwise, who spoke to them directly after the show, saying that they have no plans for the band to return to the studio. Guitarist Del Marquis revealed that he has solo work coming up, while Ana will complete work on a comic book project.
Both Jake Shears and Ana Metronic tweeted (below) to say that it isn’t the end, both reassuring fans by saying things such as “We’ll be back before you know it. With bells on”, and “It’s not goodbye. Just good night”.
Scissor Sisters toured Australia only last month, as well as visiting for various festivals last summer. This could have been the last time we saw them live, at least for a while anyway.
It's not goodbye. Just good night.
