Scott Stapp Confirmed To Replace Scott Weiland… Just Not In Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots fans can rest easy in the knowledge that Scott Stapp will not be taking them higher.

The Creed leader recently sparked rumours that he’d been recruited as STP’s new frontman after revealing that he was joining a very well established band and could “neither confirm nor deny” that it was the iconic 90s grunge act, who’ve spent months auditioning vocalists following the departure of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington and the tragic demise of their founding father, Scott Weiland.

Needless to say, STP fans did not greet the speculation with arms wide open.

But today, the band’s assurances that “Scott Stapp is not, nor has he ever been considered as the singer for STP” have been proven true, following an announcement that Stapp is replacing Scott Weiland, but in a completely different band.

Stapp has been tapped as the new lead singer of Art Of Anarchy, a rock supergroup featuring bassist John Moyer (Disturbed) and guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N’ Roses) and whose debut album Weiland performed lead vocals on.

Prior to his death, Weiland’s status as a member of Art Of Anarchy was the subject of some confusion, with the iconic singer first being announced as part of the band, then saying he wasn’t in the band, before seemingly turning up as part of the band again.

Since then, the group have been fairly inactive. But after unveiling The Stapp Attack as their brand new front-bro today, it seems like Art Of Anarchy are all systems go once again.

“We’ve been working diligently in the studio writing, recording, hangin’… been half a year now, and it’s been great. Will keep you posted on the release of our first single, music video and all. ‘Til then, warmest wishes to our family member Scott Stapp,” Bumblefoot wrote on Facebook.

I think it’s safe to chalk this one up as a win for everyone involved.

Meanwhile, Stone Temple Pilots have revealed that they’re close to picking their new lead singer, so stay tuned for news on that.

Axl Rose seems to be a popular choice these days?
