CONTENT WARNING: The following article discusses allegations of abuse
With last month’s blockbuster collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes catapulting them onto the global stage and their debut album and Hopeless Records debut just days away from release, Glasgow heavy metal act Lotus Eater were primed to take the world by storm.
Instead, they’ve broken up, following a string of disturbing allegations against their vocalist Paul Collins from multiple women, relating to sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
The allegations were first aired on a social media account dubbed Surviving Paul Collins by some of the singer’s former partners, “Survivor A, B & C”.
One of the women has since chosen to share her identity via social media under the handle @sensible_heart, offering an in-depth account of her alleged abuse:
Just hours after the allegations hit the internet, Lotus Eater took decisive action, booting Collins out of the band.
“Paul Collins is no longer a member of Lotus Eater,” they wrote, as Knotfest notes.
Within hours, the remaining band members – Cameron Humphrey and Aiden Cooper – announced the band’s break-up: “Lotus Eater 2016 – 2021. Gloom Worldwide, thank you for everything.”
All of Lotus Eater’s social media accounts have since been deleted.
As for Collins, he responded to the various allegations prior to his bandmates announcing their split.
In it, he refuted the claims and added that he’d be taking legal action:

Lotus Eater were set to release their debut album, Where The Body Goes, on July 23 via Hopeless Records.
It’s unclear if the music will ever see the light of day.
