UPDATE: Download Festival Australia Adds Two New Acts To 2018 Lineup

ORIGINAL STORY: Western Australian band Cursed Earth have become the second band to pull out of their scheduled appearance at the first-ever Australian edition of Download Festival.

Cursed Earth — who performed without frontwoman Jazmine Luders at UNIFY Gathering 2018 and pulled out of HyperFest last month — have released a statement confirming they “have chosen to withdraw from Download Australia”.

“We are currently without a vocalist and as such, unable to perform to the best of our ability,” say the band.

“Statement regarding our vocalist to come over the next few days, we appreciate your patience in this matter. We sincerely apologize to any fans that were hoping to see us and we’ll be doing everything we can to make it up later in 2018.”

Cursed Earth’s removal from Download Festival’s inaugural Australian lineup comes after Melbourne band Alpha Wolf also announced they would be pulling out of the festival earlier today, after assault allegations were made against their frontman.

In a statement, Download Festival organisers say:

“We have been notified this morning that Alpha Wolf and Cursed Earth will be withdrawing from Download Melbourne 2018. We will be announcing replacements in the coming days.

“Download Melbourne does not condone any form of violence, abuse or harassment. If you need assistance, 1800 RESPECT – the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service — can be reached on 1800 737 732. For help or information regarding mental health, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.”

Download Festival is scheduled to hit Melbourne in March, for its debut Australian event. A triple j Unearthed act is still expected to be added to the lineup in the coming weeks.
