Shakira Video Promotes “Moral Decay”, Says Colombian Politician

Public Option party councillor Marco Fidel Ramirez from the Colombian capital of Bogota has condemned the music video for Colombian singer Shakira‘s latest single, a duet with Rihanna titled Can’t Remember to Forget You, for its “dangerous” promotion of lesbianism and tobacco use.

As the New York Daily News reports, Ramirez is calling for a nationwide television ban on the racy clip, which depicts Shakira and Rihanna dressed in black lingerie, cavorting on a bed, with cuts of the two pop singers each enjoying a cigar, which Ramirez says encourages “moral decay.”

“Our Shakira with her erotic video is promoting tobacco usage and has become the worst example for our youth,” the politician wrote on Twitter. “Shakira’s new video is a shameless case for lesbianism and immorality. It is a danger to children #DangersOfShakirasVideo,” he added.

According to Ramirez, the “simply gross” video “sends a provocative message to weak people who can be polluted and induced to practice (lesbianism),” and acts as an “apology” for lesbianism and “damages the moral character of the youth of Bogota, Colombia and Latin America.”
