The stomping, soulful, Daptone darlings Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings have announced their triumphant return to our shores and will be delighting Australian audiences with a nation-wide tour this September.
Their latest studio record, Give The People What They Want, was initially slated for an August 2013 drop but was re-scheduled following Sharon Jones’ cancer diagnosis last year. After a successful operation, ongoing treatment and the support from friends, fans and family Ms. Jones and her Dap Kings are back in full swing, having finally dropped the record earlier this year.
According to Music Feeds‘ reviewer Justine McNamara, Give The People What They Want is “an album of soulful vocals, catchy riffs and a whole lot of funk, with a beating heart that is beautiful and genuine.” Audiences can expect to be graced with all that beauty when Jones and her Dap Kings head back to Australia this year.
