Sia Will Perform Live On Aussie TV For The First Time In 5 Years This Month

Paper bag popstar Sia is set to break her Australian TV drought, with plans to join breakfast royalty Kochie and Sam Armytage on earlybird staple Sunrise, later this month.

The gig at Brekky Central will mark the songbird’s first live performance on Aussie screens in almost five years, and it’s got the cornflake warriors on the Sunrise couch so excited, they couldn’t help but dress for the occasion.

“So exciting,” Kochie announced, from behind a face-obscuring blonde mop. “Our special event with Sia will happen on Tuesday, 21st April. The details of her appearance and her performances are top secret for now. No more, our lips are sealed.”

It’s a big win for the program, who were quick to point out that the Aussie pop superstar didn’t even show up to the 2014 ARIA Awards, where she cleaned house. The rare Australian TV appearance from Sia follows recently lauded international spots on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Graham Norton Show, Late Night With Seth Myers, Saturday Night Live , Jimmy Kimmel Live! and of course, this year’s Grammy Awards.

The news also comes at a time when Sia appears to be going from strength to strength. Just last week, she accepted (with a little help from Pete Wentz) the 2015 APRA Songwriter of the Year award for the third consecutive time, making her the first artist in history to do so.

The internationally renowned tunesmith has also recently announced that she has finished writing and recording the follow-up to her uber-successful 2014 album, 1000 Forms Of Fear. Her new record will be dubbed This Is Acting. A release date has yet to be announced.
