Icelandic post-rock group Sigur Rós have already booked in a cameo on the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s Game Of Thrones, but now it’s been revealed that the band have recorded a cover version of The Rains of Castamere, the song which soundtracked the Red Wedding episode.
According to Film Music Reporter, Sigur Rós’ cover will be released by WaterTower Music, and will drop on 13th April according to Amazon. In the meantime, check out a short preview of the track below, along with a shot of the band with series creator George R.R. Martin.
The Rains of Castamere was originally written by series composer Ramin Djawadi, and features lyrics by George R.R. Martin. It has appeared many times during the first three seasons of the show, including in a version performed by American indie-rock band The National, which was featured on the Season Two soundtrack. The HBO series will return on Foxtel on Monday, 7th April.
Sigur Rós latest studio album Kveikur was released in 2013.
