Sinead O’Connor has leveled accusations of physical violence against the late musician Prince.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the Irish singer-songwriter O’Connor said that she clashed with Prince after her song ‘Nothing Compares 2U’ reached global acclaim.
The song was written by Prince, and O’Connor explained what happened after they met up to discuss its success.
“We did meet up once but we didn’t get on very well, we tried to beat each other up,” she explained.
“Well, it was more he tried to beat me up and I was defending myself.
“It’s not a joke, it’s not a joke at all, it was a very frightening experience actually.”
O’Connor was appearing on the show to perform the 1990 hit, and said that she accepted an invitation to visit Prince’s house in LA.
Prince then allegedly told O’Connor to stop swearing in interviews, and wanted her to be more of a mentor to her.
When she refused, the confrontation became physical.
“I’m not the only one he went at. One of the girls in his band was in hospital with broken ribs at the time,” O’Connor continued.
Prince died in April of 2016 of an accidental overdose of fentanyl.
