The 2015 lineup for world music festival WOMADelaide is now a little bit more worldly, with big-name acts such as Ireland’s Sinead O’Connor, North America’s Sharon Van Etten, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit and Australia’s own Robert Forster with Jherek Bischoff & The Zephyr Quartet being added to the festival program. The Adelaide event, set for March next year, has added a total of 25 acts to its 2015 lineup.
Other notable additions include NSW duo Willow Beats, The Painted Ladies, Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys, seven-piece genre-mixers Myele Manzanza & The Eclectic and the Northern Territory’s desert-reggae group Tjintu Desert Band.
Also newly announced for WOMADelaide 2015 is Spanish singer-songwriter and guitarist Jairo Zavala, aka Depedro. Zavala’s third album, La increíble historia de un hombre bueno, combines Latin folk, flamenco, Afro-beat and rock, and even features Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning.
WOMADelaide’s first lineup announcement arrived in early October, and included acts such as The Gloaming, Bombino, Rufus Wainwright and Soil & ‘Pimp’ Sessions.
WOMADelaide 2015 will run from Friday, 6th March to Monday, 9th March at Adelaide’s Botanic Park. The festival is a family-friendly event with children under 12 admitted for free. Limited discounted early-bird tickets are still available for purchase. All details below.
