Singer And Show Business Legend Cilla Black Dies At Age 72

Legendary UK singer and TV presenter Cilla Black has died of natural causes at her Spanish villa, aged 72.

The well loved figure had been suffering from several illnesses including severe arthritis and hearing issues and her passing has is being treated “as the result of natural causes.”

A pioneer for female musicians in the 60s, Cilla had two number one hits Anyone Who Had A Heart and You’re My World as well as ten other songs that charted in the top ten, and was the biggest selling female artist of the 1960s.

Cilla, who was close friends with the likes of The Beatles and Cliff Richard was also very well known to a younger generation of English fans, who adored her as the host of TV show Blind Date for twenty years, making her catch-cry “What’s your name and where do you come from?” famous around the country.

Cilla, who was made an OBE in 1997, was also awarded a Bafta ‘Special Award’ in honour of her contribution to entertainment in 2014.
