Sir Elton John Biopic On The Way

Rocketman will see Sir Elton John’s life revealed in typically grand fashion on the big screen.

Entitled Rocketman, the film will be a collaboration between the legendary musician, script writer Lee Hall with David Furnish and Steve Hamilton Shaw co producing.

“It will be as unique as Elton’s life,” said Shaw, “told in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man.”

Shaw claims Rocketman won’t be the typical musician biography, saying it’s “a radically different kind of biopic.” Earlier this year, Elton said, “Obviously, it’s not going to be your normal, run-of-the-mill film. My life’s been so surreal, from buying a football club to God knows what.” He also compared it to the style of Baz Lurhmann saying it will be ” more of a fantasy, Moulin Rouge type of stuff.”

Elton is executive producer and will be helping cast various actors as himself, which sounds a similar idea to the six portrayals of Bob Dylan in the 2007 biopic I’m Not There.

This will be the second time Sir Elton John and Lee Hall have worked together after their adaptation of Hall’s script for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Billy Elliot.

The news comes after the well-received Nowhere Boy, about John Lennon, and the anticipated Freddie Mercury picture with Sacha Baron Cohen.
