Skrillex & Daft Punk Are Getting Their Tracks Remade Into Classical Music

In a movement that seems to be gathering some serious momentum worldwide, a heap of EDM artists will have their music re-birthed into classical pieces at Sweden’s Bråvalla Festival next month.

Following on from the Sydney Youth Orchestra’s revamp of Da Rude’s Sandstorm at Vivid earlier this month – classical composer Hans Ek will debut his latest project set to feature the work of Skrillex, Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia, Nina Kraviz and Deadmau5.

The project is titled Dance Music Symphony and will feature 17 tracks performed by the 85-piece Norrköping Orchestra.

“I listened through a vast amount of dance classics and new hits,” said Ek in a statement. “From a palette of the greatest music I selected songs perfectly suite to a symphonic ‘remix.’ For example, Massive Attack’s ‘Unfinished Sympathy’ already had a strong orchestral presence, and Daft Punk’s ‘Aerodynamic’ had elements of Vivaldi and Prokofiev.”
