Sleepmakeswaves Announce Their Biggest-Ever National Tour

Sydney post-rock band sleepmakeswaves have secured a 10-date Australian headline tour in support of their ARIA and J Award-nominated 2014 album Love Of Cartography. The Great Northern Tour will see the band perform around the country between April and June.

Having toured with Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus in the past, as well as playing headline shows around Australia, sleepmakeswaves are steadily making a name for themselves as a captivating international headline act. In total, the band are readying themselves to play a mammoth 55 shows across 22 countries between March and June.

On the Australian leg of The Great Northern Tour, named after Love Of Cartography single Great Northern (below), the group will perform shows in major cities, as well as in Port Macquarie, Byron Bay, Newcastle and Wollongong.

“Well Australia, after two months overseas this is gonna make for some kind of homecoming,” the band posted on the tour’s Facebook event page. “We’re going to miss you when we’re away so come say hello and catch up over some loud instrumental rock. This is our biggest Australian tour yet, and we’re psyched to get the opportunity to keep stepping these shows up.”

In a huge bonus for fans, the Australian leg of The Great Northern Tour will feature two free shows and two all-ages shows. Details of The Great Northern Tour‘s Australian leg are available below.

UPDATE 13/04/15: Sleepmakeswaves have added an extra date to their Australian touring itinerary, supporting Swedish prog masters Opeth in Sydney. They’ve also announced their full list of their own supports for the tour, bringing Sydney rock quartet Gay Paris along with them to all shows except Port Macquarie, Canberra, Wollongong.

Also supporting will be Glass Ocean (Byron Bay, Brisbane, Canberra, Newcastle), Mowgli (Canberra, Wollongong), Sparkspitter (Adelaide, Perth), Serious Break (Sydney), with American doomgaze legends This Will Destroy You joining the bills in Sydney and Melbourne.
