Slipknot’s Jim Root Is “Surprised” We Still Haven’t Figured Out Who Tortilla Face Is

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root can’t believe we still haven’t solved the mystery of the band’s new ninth member.

Affectionately dubbed ‘Tortilla Man’ or ‘Tortilla Face’ or ‘Tortilla Guy’, The Nine’s mysterious new recruit’s identity remains elusive, as fans continue to hypothesise who could be the man behind the slice of Spanish flatbread.

“I’m actually surprised that nobody has sussed out who it is yet, but nobody has,” #4 told Rock Sound. “And in this day and age of social media, with phones and cameras everywhere, that’s kinda interesting.”

He continued: “It’s weird because I’ve met this guy before, I know who he is, but he’s really kind of elusive, even around our camp. I’ve had some people tell me, ‘Don’t tell us who he is, we’re having fun trying to figure it out!’

“So I’m gonna keep my mouth shut about all of that and see what happens. Eventually someday someone’s going to figure it out…”

Ol’ ‘Tortilla Face’ joined the masked maggot wranglers following their, uh, less than amicable split with custom percussionist Chris Fehn, and first appeared in the music video for ‘Unsainted’ a few months back.

In an interview on Beats 1 Radio earlier this week, frontman Corey Taylor said Tortilla Face was “doing great and is a great dude”.

“He’s killing it, man,” he added.

Aussie maggots will have a chance to see Tortilla Face live when Slipknot comes down under to tour with Metallica this October, off the back of their freshly unleashed LP, WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND.
