Soul Legend Sharon Jones Has Died At Age 60

Sharon Jones, the frontwoman of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, has died at the age of 60.

A post on her Facebook confirmed that she lost her battle with pancreatic cancer after three years of fighting the illness.

“She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings,” the post reads.

“Thank you for your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.”

The singer was diagnosed with the ilkness in 2013 but returned to touring and recording after treatment and an operation. In November 2015, she announced that the cancer had returned.

She released her last record Give The People What They Want in 2014 and this year was the subject of the documentary Miss Sharon Jones!.

She last toured Australia back in 2014.
