Speed have updated their 2025 regional tour schedule, which was thrown into disarray last week following the disappearance of a friend of the band’s. The tour, which started in Queensland in the early days of 2025, will now resume in February. The updated tour schedule can be found below.
On Monday, January 6th, the band cancelled their show in Nambour due to what was described as “an emergency”. Further detail was shared later that week, after it was revealed that the band’s friend Chang-Wook Yeo – also known as “Aje” – had gone missing in the Blue Mountains, and that members of the band were close contacts in the search. Yeo’s body was found later that week, with the band posting a heartfelt tribute to him on their social media accounts.
“Aje moved to Sydney from South Korea in October 2022, and was immediately welcomed into our Sydney hardcore family with open arms,” they wrote. “He had an avid interest in all things underground, and spent literally every single moment he could attending and participating in events of all kinds, all around Sydney. With an insanely fresh mosh repertoire accompanied by his flamboyant clothes and signature ski mask, Aje’s presence at Sydney hardcore shows was impossible to ignore and not admire. He quickly became a part of the fabric of our friendship group, and we celebrated highs and lows together as he built a life here and made it his home.”
Speed – ‘The First Test’
The band have now decided to proceed with the tour at a later date, giving them time to process the loss of their friend and to perform in tribute to him. “We sincerely thank the countless people who have offered help, support and understanding,” the band wrote. “The outpouring of love worldwide is a testament to the remarkable impact Aje had on so many far and wide.”
For those that cannot make the new dates, listed below, refunds are available from the ticket outlet where they originally purchased them. These refunded tickets will then go on sale for these shows, the majority of which are sold out.
