There’s even more Splendour In The Grass coming your way, with the festival’s already monster 2016 lineup expanding by another two acts.
It’s been embiggened with the addition of triple j’s annual Unearthed winners.
This year’s crop includes 25-year-old Melbourne-via-Perth songwriter Alex Lahey and Byron Bay’s own indie rockers PLTS (pronounced “Pilots”), who follow in the footsteps of Splendour Unearthed alumni like Tired Lion, Airling, Kingswood and Art Vs Science, who’ve all gone to kick some major grass.
Lahey’s spot comes off the back of a few gongs, including Best New Music on Pitchfork and the 2016 Josh Pyke Partnership ahead of the release of her forthcoming five-track EP, B Grade University, this August.
Her fuzzy track You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me has also been clocking up plenty of mileage on j rotation recently.
PLTS have been busy on the road touting their latest Kings Of Leon-style track On & On, which was recorded with producer JP Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Birds of Tokyo, Client Liaison).
Together, they’ll help open up the biggest bash on the Aussie festival calendar, joining the likes of The Strokes, The Cure, Flume, and The Avalanches.
